The classroom day

Autism support and school

School is sensory load, a group, and a finish bell. We write asks a teacher can try for ten days, and we practise sitting, waiting and a way to ask — not the alphabet as a trophy.

Sitting, a two-step instruction, a recovery. Then letters.

What we practise

Sitting a short sit. A two-step instruction. A way to ask for help or a break. Recovering when the plan changes. That is school readiness and Akasha on autism and school, sitting inside the autism plan.

What we send the teacher

A one-page picture and two or three asks. Letter template, classroom support, about my child. Mainstream or special is a family decision we can think through: mainstream or special school.

Teenagers

Friendships, masking, the 4pm crash, leaving school. Friendships, life skills, after school. We see children through sixteen.

FAQ

School — questions parents ask

Will you get my child into a special school?

No. We are not an admissions office. We will help you think, and write, and practise the skills the next place will need.

The school says they are fine.

Masking until 4pm is expensive. Read the after-school page before you drop the worry.

Homework is a war.

Homework battles. Shrink the task. Stop while they can still succeed.

How do we start?

A consultation is Rs 1,500 and lasts up to 50 minutes. Bring the school note, even if it is one line.
