Mainstream or special school — how to decide
Families in Multan are often told it is one or the other. For most children it is a mix, and the mix can change. This page is the decision you make this year, not a verdict on your child’s future.

What actually predicts a good year
Not IQ. Not whether they know the alphabet. The load of a Pakistani classroom is noise, copying from the board, waiting, and recovering when something goes wrong. A child who can do those with support usually belongs in mainstream with a plan. A child who cannot yet sit a short group, or who has no way to say “help”, is not failing mainstream — mainstream is the wrong size of room for this year.
A useful mix we see often: morning in a smaller group or resource room for language and literacy, afternoon with their class for the social day. That only works if the class teacher has two or three written adjustments — start with classroom support and, if you need it on paper, a letter to the school.
If the worry is “they are not ready at all”, use the school readiness checklist first. If they are older, the question is different: see teenagers and after school.
School placement — questions parents ask
If we choose special school, can they ever go back to mainstream?
Yes. Placement is not a life sentence. Children move when language, sitting and self-care catch up, or when a mainstream school is willing to make the adjustments in classroom support. Revisit the decision every year, not once at four.
Do we need a disability certificate to get into a special school in Punjab?
Government special education centres usually do. Private centres vary. Read the actual process on disability certificates and government special education in Punjab and check the centre yourself — rules change.
Is a therapy centre the same as a special school?
No. We are a therapy centre. Your child comes for sessions and stays on their own school roll. If they need a full-day specialist setting, we will say so rather than pretend three hours a week is a school. See about us.
