Autism support at home
Home is the programme. A clinic hour cannot outrun breakfast, the door, and the 4pm crash. We pick one routine and one way to ask, then coach you until it is yours.
Written by the Inclusive Developmental and Therapy Center therapy team — our Speech & Language Therapist, psychology and ABA staff. This page is awaiting its clinical review.
What to try this week
A first-then. A pause so they can request. A warning before a change. A place to recover that is not a punishment. Programs: autism connection, first-then, daily routine. Coaching: parent coaching.
Relatives and helpers
If Dadi and the helper use two scripts, the child will pick the easier one. One line on the fridge. Explaining therapy to relatives, when a helper raises the child.

At home — questions parents ask
Should I stop stimming?
Not if nobody is getting hurt. It is often regulation. Suppressing it usually makes the next hour worse.
Screens as a calm-down?
They work until they do not. Teach a recovery that does not need a phone, even if the phone is still in the mix for now.
Siblings?
They need a version of the story and some protected time. Supporting siblings.
Can you coach us online?
Yes. A consultation is Rs 1,500 and lasts up to 50 minutes. See online autism support.
