🇬🇧 Online support in United Kingdom

Online speech and development support for families in the UK

From Multan we coach British-Pakistani parents in Bradford, Birmingham, London, Manchester, Luton and Glasgow in Urdu and English, often while an NHS speech-therapy waiting list ticks slowly along.

Support for children and families in United Kingdom

Our centre is in Multan, Pakistan — we don’t have a branch in United Kingdom. For families in United Kingdom we work entirely online, in English or Urdu, and we point you to your own country’s services too.

Britain's Pakistani community is one of the country's largest and most rooted, with strong hubs in Bradford, Birmingham, London, Manchester, Luton and Glasgow. Many of the parents we meet are second- or third-generation British, speaking English fluently themselves but raising children in homes where grandparents speak Urdu or Punjabi and the child hears both. When speech seems slow, families often want two things at once: to understand it in a British context, and to talk it through with someone who also understands the Pakistani home. We try to hold both.

We are a single physical centre in Multan, led by speech and language therapist Mahnoor Baloch. We are not an NHS service and we hold no UK registration; for British families we work only by video, coaching parents. The most common reason people reach us is the NHS wait — speech and language therapy lists in many areas are long, and parents do not want to lose months doing nothing while a child is small.

The time difference is real here. The UK is four to five hours behind Pakistan depending on the season, so a UK after-school or evening slot lands late for us. We plan around that honestly rather than pretending it away, and many families are glad to have an early-evening call that fits the school-and-work day at their end.

How we help

Working with families in United Kingdom

We start by listening to your whole picture — where you are on the NHS pathway, what the health visitor or school has said, and what worries you day to day. Then we agree a small home plan that complements, rather than second-guesses, whatever your NHS therapist will eventually do. The idea is to keep a child moving forward during the wait, not to run a parallel diagnosis.

Between calls you lead. We show you how to draw out words during tea-time, the school run and play, how to hold calm and consistent boundaries, and how to make dressing, handwriting and self-care into small daily wins. Our free Grow tools give you Urdu and English activity sheets so the weeks between sessions have shape.

Across the team we cover speech therapy, ABA and behavioural support, special education, child psychology, developmental assessments and motor, handwriting and sensory-regulation skills. We do not have a licensed occupational therapist, so we are careful to describe that last strand as practical motor and daily-living coaching, not clinical OT.

Who we tend to help in the UK

Many of our UK families are British-Pakistani parents whose children are on an NHS speech-therapy list, or who have had a nursery or school raise a concern and are not sure what to do next. Some want help understanding an EHC needs assessment or a SENCo meeting; others simply want to feel less alone while the system grinds forward. A good number come through word of mouth in tight community networks in cities like Bradford and Birmingham.

We also work with families who spend part of the year in Pakistan, or whose grandparents move between the two countries, and who want a child's progress to hold across those trips. Being based in Multan, we can keep coaching through a long summer in Pakistan without a break.

Working with the NHS wait, not against it

We are explicit that we are not a shortcut around the NHS and not a substitute for a speech and language therapist's assessment. What we can do is help you use the waiting months well: understanding what a health visitor or GP referral involves, preparing for appointments, and keeping useful language and behaviour work going at home so a child arrives at NHS therapy with momentum rather than a standstill behind them.

Because the UK sits four to five hours behind us, we usually settle on an early-evening UK slot — late afternoon or after tea for you, later evening for us. Sessions are a plain video call on a phone or laptop, in Urdu, English or a mix, watching your child at play so we can coach on what is really happening.

Local services

Getting help where you are, too

Alongside working with us online, here’s how families in United Kingdom can reach support in their own area. Processes change, so always double-check locally.

The NHS route into speech and language therapy

In the UK, support usually begins with your GP or health visitor, who can refer a child to speech and language therapy or to community paediatrics. In many areas you can self-refer to speech and language therapy directly — it is worth checking what your local service allows. Waits for NHS SLT are commonly long, which is one reason families look for something to do in the meantime. Local arrangements differ and change, so check your own area's current process.

School support, the SENCo and an EHCP

If concerns show up at nursery or school, the SENCo (special educational needs coordinator) is your key contact and can put support in place through SEN Support. Where needs are more significant, you or the school can request an EHC needs assessment, which may lead to an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The process has statutory timescales but can feel slow, and the detail varies by local authority, so confirm the current position with your school or council.

FAQ

Questions from families in United Kingdom

Are you an NHS service or a registered UK provider?

No. We are not part of the NHS, we hold no UK registration, and we have no UK branch. We work with British families online only, as Urdu and English parent coaching and support. For a formal diagnosis or funded therapy you should use NHS and school services, which we can help you navigate.

Can you get us off the NHS waiting list faster?

No, and we would not claim to. We are not a shortcut around the NHS. What we do is help you use the waiting time well, so your child keeps making progress at home and arrives at NHS therapy with momentum.

Which language do sessions run in?

Urdu, English or a blend. Many British-Pakistani parents speak English fluently but still find it easier to talk about a child's behaviour, and their own worries, partly in Urdu.

How does the time difference work?

The UK is four to five hours behind Pakistan depending on the season. We usually settle on a late-afternoon or early-evening UK slot, which fits your school-and-work day and is a later evening for us in Multan.

Can you help us understand an EHCP or a SENCo meeting?

We can talk through what these mean and help you prepare, so you feel steadier walking in. We cannot carry out the EHC needs assessment itself — that sits with your local authority and school — but we can help you make sense of the process.

We spend summers in Pakistan. Do sessions pause?

No. Because we are based in Multan, we can keep coaching you right through a long summer in Pakistan, so your child does not lose ground during the trip.

Do you offer occupational therapy?

No. We do not have a licensed occupational therapist. We coach practical motor, handwriting and daily-living skills, and for clinical OT you would go through the NHS or a registered private practitioner in the UK.
