Finding the right care in Multan

A child and adolescent psychiatrist should lead assessment and medical treatment of suspected bipolar disorder. Contact us to discuss psychological or family support alongside that care.

First consultation: Rs 1,500 · up to 50 minutes. Model Town, Multan · Mon–Fri, 2 PM – 6 PM. Ongoing therapy is planned and priced separately.

Our psychology service works with children and teenagers aged 3–16. We do not prescribe medication or provide emergency psychiatric care.

Contact Muhammad Salman Afzal, clinical and child psychologist, first to confirm the appropriate clinician and service. How fees work.

Bipolar disorder involves distinct episodes of changes in mood, energy and activity. It is not another name for everyday mood swings or a child becoming upset quickly. In young people, the symptoms can overlap with other difficulties, so assessment needs particular care.

Families may notice periods of unusually increased energy with much less need for sleep, as well as periods of depression. These changes need a specialist assessment rather than a conclusion from a symptom list. A child and adolescent psychiatrist is the appropriate route for suspected bipolar disorder and medical treatment.

For families in Multan, Inclusive can be contacted about psychological and family support alongside an established psychiatric care plan. The centre is not a psychiatric prescribing service, and a routine psychology consultation should not delay urgent specialist care. If you are looking for help with persistent low mood without such episodes, see our depression guide.

Changes to raise promptly with a specialist

  • A distinct change from the young person’s usual mood and activity
  • Much less sleep without the expected tiredness, alongside increased energy
  • Unusually fast speech, racing thoughts or marked changes in judgment
  • Risk-taking or agitation that causes concern about safety
  • Periods of low mood, loss of interest or hopelessness

How to prepare for appropriate care

  • Contact a qualified medical clinician about suspected mood episodes. Take a record of changes in sleep, activity and mood, and explain how they differ from the young person’s usual behaviour.
  • Bring previous assessments, the current care plan and a list of prescribed medicines. The prescribing clinician should manage medication decisions; do not change them based on this page.
  • If psychological support is appropriate, ask how the psychologist would coordinate with the psychiatrist and which family or everyday-life goals they would address.
  • Before booking at Inclusive, confirm that the appointment is for psychological support, not psychiatric diagnosis or medication. Ask about availability, clinician fit and fees.

FAQ

Bipolar Disorder: questions parents ask

Are mood swings or emotional dysregulation the same as bipolar disorder?

No. The terms are not interchangeable. A specialist considers distinct mood episodes, changes in sleep and energy, the overall history and other possible explanations.

Is Inclusive a bipolar medication clinic?

No. The centre does not prescribe medication or provide emergency psychiatric care. Ask about psychological or family support alongside care from a qualified psychiatrist.

Can a psychologist support a teenager already seeing a psychiatrist?

Psychological and family support can form part of a wider care plan. Confirm clinician suitability and discuss coordination with the treating psychiatrist before starting sessions.

What if there is almost no sleep, unsafe behaviour or a risk of self-harm?

Seek urgent medical assessment. If there is immediate danger, use emergency services or the nearest hospital emergency department. Do not wait for a routine booking or WhatsApp reply.
