Autism and behaviour

ABA and behaviour support for autistic children

For many autistic children the “behaviour” is a sentence they cannot say yet. We teach the sentence — a card, a word, a walk — rather than chasing a child who looks typical.

A way to ask. A sit that ends. Not a cure.

What we use ABA for here

Requesting. Waiting a short wait. Recovering when the plan changes. Reducing a behaviour that is hurting someone by giving a better tool. That sits inside the autism support programme, not as a separate personality rebuild. Mahnoor’s frame: autism with Mahnoor.

What we will not claim

ABA does not treat autism. We do not sell a cure. We do not run a programme whose only goal is eye contact. Stimming that is not harming anyone is not a target. See special interests and masking.

Meltdown is not naughtiness

If the nervous system is past the edge, teaching can wait. Sensory load, hunger, a too-long day: meltdown vs shutdown, sensory support. Punishment in a flood teaches fear, not a skill.

FAQ

Autism — questions parents ask

Do you diagnose autism with ABA?

No. We assess skills and write a plan. Diagnosis is a paediatrician or psychiatrist.

Will more ABA make them typical?

Typical is not the finish line. A way to ask, a sit, and a recovery are.

They only behave for you.

Then the skill is not in the house yet. That is why coaching exists. We fade ourselves on purpose.

How do we start?

A consultation is Rs 1,500 and lasts up to 50 minutes. You do not need a diagnosis. “Bacha sunta nahi” is enough.
