What we coach
What the behaviour is doing — escape, attention, a request they cannot say, sensory load. Then a replacement. ABA: behavioural therapy. Noor: Noor Fatima. Mahnoor: behaviour.
When feelings are the wall
Psychology with Salman. Related: tantrum or meltdown.
Name the function, then teach the ask
Escape, attention, a request they cannot say, sensory load. Then a replacement. Planned ignoring of a small bid for attention is sometimes the move. Ignoring a safety issue is never the move. We will say which is which.
ABA: behavioural therapy. Noor: Noor. Mahnoor: behaviour. ABC chart: printable.
When it is feelings, not a missing skill
Psychology with Salman. Tantrum or meltdown. Coaching still helps the adult’s volume while that work happens.

Behaviour — questions parents ask
Will you tell me to ignore it?
Sometimes planned ignoring of a small bid for attention. Never of a safety issue. We will say which is which.
Can the helper join?
Yes. If the afternoon adult is not in the session, the week unravels.
Will you tell me to use punishment?
No. We teach a replacement and change what happens around the behaviour. Punishment-first is not the plan.
