Reading support that is not more worksheets

Reading help here is the actual stuck skill — sounds, or understanding, or sitting long enough to try — not another copy of the school reader at 9pm.

One page. Then stop. Understanding and decoding are different jobs.

Two jobs that look like “reading”

Decoding is turning letters into words. Understanding is knowing what happened. A child can do one and not the other. Comprehension vs decoding, dyslexia, early reading, Akasha on literacy.

What a session does

One small step: a sound, a word family, a sentence they can retell. Stop while they can still succeed. Homework: a short burst, not the whole reader. Homework battles.

FAQ

Reading — questions parents ask

They guess from the picture.

That is a strategy, not a crime. We still teach the sounds. We do not shame the guess in front of the class.

School says they are lazy.

Effort with no result is not laziness. Bring a page they wrote or read last week.

Tuition plus this?

Often the week is already too full. Tuition overload.

How do we start?

A consultation is Rs 1,500 and lasts up to 50 minutes. Bring the book that is hard.
