Child psychology and school
School refusal, exam fear, a child who holds it together until the gate — psychology here writes what the teacher can actually try, and what you do at 7am, not a lecture about confidence.
Written by the Inclusive Developmental and Therapy Center therapy team — our Speech & Language Therapist, psychology and ABA staff. This page is awaiting its clinical review.
What we see
A stomach-ache on Sunday night. A child who is “fine” in class and floods at home. Exam panic. Selective mutism in the classroom. Anxiety, selective mutism, exam stress, school refusal.
What we send the school
A short picture and two asks: a later entry, a trusted adult, not being made to read aloud this fortnight. Letter, classroom support. Salman writes from the psychology side; Mahnoor from speech and learning. The page is still one page.

School — questions parents ask
Is this just school refusal?
Sometimes it is anxiety, sometimes sensory load, sometimes a language wall. We sort that rather than naming it laziness.
Should I force them through the gate?
A hard drag every morning usually makes the next morning worse. We plan a graded return, not a scene at the gate.
Exams this year.
Then the plan has to fit this year, not a perfect future. Extra time is the board’s. Coping is ours and yours.
How do we start?
A consultation is Rs 1,500 and lasts up to 50 minutes. Bring the attendance record if you have one.
