Speech therapy and school
School is where a speech difficulty stops being a home worry and becomes a day. We write asks a Pakistani teacher can try for ten school days — not a twelve-page report nobody reads.
Written by the Inclusive Developmental and Therapy Center therapy team — our Speech & Language Therapist, psychology and ABA staff. This page is awaiting its clinical review.
What we send the school
A short picture of how the child communicates, two or three classroom asks, and what “better” would look like in a fortnight. Extra time, a reduced copy load, a chance to answer after a pause, a peer who already understands them. The template lives on letter to school and how Mahnoor writes school plans.
Classroom support in plain language: classroom support. If homework is the war, start at homework battles rather than adding speech drill at 9pm.
What school is asking of speech
Copying from the board, answering in a group, following a three-step instruction, reading aloud. Those are language and attention jobs sitting on top of speech. If the child can do the work in a quiet room and not in class, the load is the room, not the child — ADHD and sensory load belong in that picture.
Teenagers
We see children through sixteen. Unclear speech at twelve, a stammer that came back at exams, a child who has stopped putting their hand up. The school-age hub is school-age and teens. Therapy is still one target, not a personality rebuild.

School — questions parents ask
Will you come into school?
We write for the teacher and coach the parent. In-school delivery is a separate conversation, not a default. Most Multan schools need a letter they can try, not another adult in the corridor.
My child is fine at school and falls apart at home.
School has a finish bell. Home has you and a whole day still in the body. That pattern is common. It does not mean they were “fine”.
Can speech therapy get extra time in board exams?
We can describe what we see. The concession is the board’s and the school’s. Read extra time in Pakistani board exams.
How do we start?
A consultation is Rs 1,500 and lasts up to 50 minutes. Bring a school note if you have one. WhatsApp the age and what the teacher actually said, not the rumour.
Ask about school
A short, friendly conversation is the best first step. Call, text or WhatsApp us — we’ll listen and guide you, with no pressure.
