Sensory strategies at home
Home sensory work is the jumper, the mixer, the canteen smell, the after-school crash. One change this week. A recovery place that is not a punishment.
Written by the Inclusive Developmental and Therapy Center therapy team — our Speech & Language Therapist, psychology and ABA staff. This page is awaiting its clinical review.
What to try this week
One clothing change. A warning before loud kitchen tools. A place to recover. A shorter homework burst after school. Log it: sensory checklist, sensory program. Haircuts, dentist, nails: the blog already has those days.
When it is medical
Pain, hearing, vision, a skill going backwards. That is a doctor, not more ear defenders. We will say so.

At home — questions parents ask
Should I force the jumper?
Not as a personality test. Build tolerance in tiny steps, or pick a different jumper. A daily war at 7am teaches dread.
They crash at 4pm.
That is a tank, not naughtiness. After school.
Can you coach us on video?
Yes, for routines. A consultation is Rs 1,500 and lasts up to 50 minutes. A gym programme still needs the right clinic.
Is picky eating sensory?
Often partly. See feeding and the feeding home program. Safety first if they gag or choke.
