Child therapy for Azad Kashmir, with relatives abroad able to join the call

Azad Kashmir is hilly and largely rural, and many families here have relatives settled abroad who share closely in decisions about the children. We work with families across the region online, in Urdu and English, and overseas relatives are welcome to join sessions and help carry the plan forward.

Support for children and families in Azad Jammu & Kashmir

Our centre is in Multan, Pakistan — we don’t have a branch in Azad Jammu & Kashmir. For families in Azad Jammu & Kashmir we work entirely online, in English or Urdu.

Azad Kashmir is a hilly, largely rural region, and it has a distinctive feature that shapes how families here make decisions: a great many households have relatives settled abroad. Uncles, grandparents and parents living overseas often stay closely involved in the children's lives, and their views carry real weight when something like a child's speech or development is in question. That strong link across borders is part of the fabric of family life here.

We are the Inclusive Developmental and Therapy Center, based in Model Town, Multan, and we work with families across Azad Kashmir online. Because everything happens over video, it does not only reach families across the region's hills, it reaches the relatives abroad too. A grandmother in another country or a father working overseas can sit in on a session, hear the specialist directly, and be part of the plan.

Urdu is widely shared across Azad Kashmir alongside regional languages of the area, and it is also the language many overseas relatives are most comfortable with. We run our sessions in Urdu and English, which suits both the household here and the family abroad, and we coach parents plainly so everyone can follow and support the practice at home.

How we help

Working with families in Azad Jammu & Kashmir

Our team covers speech therapy, ABA and behavioural therapy, special education, child psychology, and developmental assessments, along with support for motor, handwriting and sensory-regulation skills. Founder Mahnoor Baloch is a speech-language therapist with more than five years of experience, and she leads specialists who each focus on the part of your child's development that most needs attention.

For an Azad Kashmir family, we begin with a developmental assessment over video: we watch how your child communicates, plays and responds, and we listen carefully to your concerns. From there we agree a plan and meet regularly online. Our free 'Grow' tools give a parent something structured to practise between sessions, and they are just as easy for an involved relative abroad to look over and understand.

Parent coaching is central to how we work, and in Azad Kashmir that coaching can extend to the wider family. When relatives share in the daily care, whether in the home or guiding by phone from abroad, we make sure everyone understands the same approach: how to draw out first words in everyday routines, how to respond calmly to hard behaviour, and how to build the fine motor skills behind writing.

Keeping the whole family on the same page

Where relatives abroad are closely involved, families sometimes end up pulled between different opinions gathered from different places. One of the quiet strengths of online sessions is that everyone can hear the specialist at the same time, from the same explanation. Instead of a plan being relayed second-hand and slowly drifting, the mother here and the grandmother overseas both hear it first-hand, ask their own questions, and leave aligned.

That alignment matters for a child. Progress comes from consistency, and consistency is far easier when the whole family, wherever they are, agrees on the approach and pulls the same way. For Azad Kashmir households with strong overseas ties, being able to bring everyone into one call is not a small convenience, it is often what makes the plan actually hold together.

Reaching across the region's hills

Beyond the diaspora link, Azad Kashmir is hilly and rural, and specialist child-development services are not readily at hand for many families spread through its valleys and towns. Travelling to find a speech therapist or child psychologist is a real burden here, and online delivery lifts that specialist over the hills and into your home, on a schedule that fits around school and work.

Working at home also gives us an honest view of your child. A child who might freeze in an unfamiliar clinic often shows us far more on their own floor, surrounded by their own things, and that truer picture lets us aim at the right goals. For Azad Kashmir families, the online route is both practical for the terrain and a natural fit for a family whose members are spread across the world.

Local services

Getting help where you are, too

Alongside working with us online, here’s how families in Azad Jammu & Kashmir can reach support in their own area. Processes change, so always double-check locally.

District hospitals across the region

District hospitals across Azad Kashmir can carry out an initial check and flag a developmental concern; specialist child-development input is limited and often means looking toward the larger cities over the border in Punjab. Ask your local hospital where they would send you for anything specialist.

Relatives abroad can help arrange support

Many Kashmiri families have close relatives settled in the UK and the Gulf, and it is common for them to join calls or help fund a private assessment during a visit home. If that is your situation, we are happy to speak with whoever is helping you decide — in Urdu or English.

Regional education authorities for schooling

The region's education authorities oversee special schooling and related learning support. Availability varies between the towns and the more rural areas, so confirm locally what covers your district.

FAQ

Questions from families in Azad Jammu & Kashmir

Can my parents or in-laws abroad join the sessions?

Yes. Because sessions are online, relatives settled overseas can join the call from wherever they are, hear the specialist directly and share in the plan. For many Azad Kashmir families, that shared involvement is one of the biggest advantages of working this way.

We speak a regional Kashmiri language at home. Will sessions work?

Yes. We run sessions in Urdu and English, both widely shared across Azad Kashmir and comfortable for relatives abroad too. We coach you in plain language so the whole family can follow and support the practice.

Do we need to travel to Multan?

No. Our centre is in Multan, but Azad Kashmir families work with us entirely online. Nothing about your child's therapy requires a journey out of the region.

Will having relatives abroad involved complicate the plan?

It does not have to. In fact, bringing everyone into the same call means the whole family hears the same explanation first-hand, which usually makes the plan more consistent, not less, because everyone is pulling the same way.

Who will work with my child?

Our team includes speech therapists, behavioural and ABA specialists, special educators and a child psychologist, led by founder Mahnoor Baloch, a speech-language therapist with over five years of experience. The specialist matched to your child depends on their needs.

Can you help with handwriting and daily-living skills?

Yes. Alongside speech and behaviour, we support motor, handwriting and daily-living skills. We do not have a licensed occupational therapist on the team, so this is practical motor and self-care skill-building rather than clinical occupational therapy.

Are the 'Grow' tools free?

Yes. The 'Grow' tools are free parent resources for use between sessions, and they are just as easy for an involved relative abroad to look over as for the parents at home.
