Akasha works in Inclusive’s school-readiness programme in Multan. The job is the skills school actually uses on day one: sitting, following an instruction, asking for help, a goodbye that ends — then pre-reading, pencil control and a short group sit. Letters are taught at school.

A short group sit. A two-step instruction. Sitting tolerance. Task completion. Pre-reading and letter-sound work when the child is ready for it — not as a trophy. Pencil control and pre-writing. How she teaches it
Individual goals. Structured, engaging activities. Positive reinforcement. Prompting, then fading the prompt. Task analysis — one step at a time. Progress is measured against this child, not a neighbour’s five-year-old.
Parents and teachers stay in the loop. A classroom ask a Pakistani teacher can try sits on the letter to school. Special education at the centre: special education.
Who this is for
Children heading toward nursery or school who cannot yet sit, wait, follow an instruction or ask for help. Autistic children and children with ADHD, Down syndrome or developmental delay whose classroom day is the battle. Children who know letters but cannot last a group sit.

Should we delay school a year?
Sometimes, if sitting, waiting and language are the gap and a year of the right practice would change them. Sometimes starting with support is kinder. That is a judgement after assessment.
