When worry starts affecting everyday life
Occasional anxiety does not necessarily mean an anxiety disorder. It is worth seeking help when worry is hard to manage or keeps disrupting sleep, work, decisions or relationships. Generalised anxiety disorder involves a broader pattern of persistent worry; an assessment considers the duration, impact and possible other causes.
What to ask about anxiety counselling
If you are looking for anxiety counselling or a psychologist in Multan, start by explaining what anxiety stops you doing. You might want to complete a workday with fewer interruptions, attend an appointment you have been avoiding, or discuss worries that keep returning. Ask how the clinician would approach your particular difficulty.
Talking therapies, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), are among the treatment options for GAD. Medication may also be considered by a doctor. Confirm the proposed clinician’s training and approach before choosing care; the treatment plan should follow an individual assessment.
Planning support around your circumstances
You can enquire about in-person support at our Model Town centre or an online adult appointment. Explain any communication, privacy or access needs before booking.
- Ask who will provide the appointment and what experience they have with your concern
- Agree on practical goals and when the plan will be reviewed
- Confirm the fee and session length, and whether another type of assessment is needed
What we can discuss with you
- Worries that are hard to manage across work, health, family or everyday decisions
- Avoidance and the effect of anxiety on daily activities
- Sleep, concentration and physical tension
- Your priorities for treatment and any previous support
Starting the conversation
Describe the situations that bring anxiety on and how often it interrupts your day. Tell the clinician about relevant physical symptoms, medicines and previous treatment. A physical health concern should not automatically be labelled as anxiety.
Understanding the scope of support
Anxiety symptoms alone do not establish GAD. Assessment helps distinguish generalised anxiety, social anxiety, OCD and other causes of distress. A doctor can assess physical causes and advise about medication when needed.
Read the background guidance: NHS: generalised anxiety disorder. This source explains the topic; it does not certify IDTC or an individual clinician.
