Child Behaviour Programs: What They Are, and What Actually Works

By Muhammad Salman Afzal, Owner & Director · 10 September 2026

A child behaviour program is a planned way of teaching a better response to the same situation — not a punishment timetable, and not twenty targets on the fridge. At Inclusive in Model Town, Multan, behaviour work is ABA and positive behaviour support under one written plan: find what the behaviour is doing, teach a replacement that actually gets the job done, fade the old way.

Parents search “child behaviour programs” when the house is already tired. Hitting, not sitting, screaming at a no, a child who will not start any demand. This page tells you what a program should contain, what ours looks like, what you can run at home this week, and what to walk away from.

What a decent behaviour program contains

  • One behaviour at a time, described so two adults would write the same sentence.
  • The job it is doing — escape, a request they cannot say, attention, sensory load. That is the ABC: what happened before, the behaviour, what happened after. ABC chart.
  • A replacement skill that gets the same job: a card, a word, a walk, a “help.” Teaching a way to ask.
  • Where it will be practised — the door, the table, the bath — not a clinic skill that dies in the corridor.
  • A finish line. Therapy is meant to end. A program with no review date is a subscription.

If someone sells you a package before they have seen your child, that is a product, not a program. What ABA is, ABA and behavioural therapy.

What our behaviour program looks like in Multan

Mahnoor Baloch leads the first assessment and writes the plan. ABA hours are delivered by Noor Fatima and Atika Zainab under that plan. We list IBT as certified training. We do not print BCBA. We do not use pain, shame, or hours of compliance drills.

A session is one function, one replacement, play that makes the new way pay, then stop while it is still going well. You see the prompt. Then we fade you. Shape of the hour: what an ABA session looks like. Home: behaviour at home. Week-by-week: behaviour home program.

A consultation is Rs 1,500 and lasts up to 50 minutes. You do not need a diagnosis. “Bacha sunta nahi” is enough.

What you can run at home this week

  1. Pick the behaviour that costs the most — not the most embarrassing one for relatives.
  2. Write before / behaviour / after for three days.
  3. Teach one ask that gets the same job, when everyone is calm.
  4. Pay the ask quickly. Do not pay the scream.
  5. Stop while it still works. A two-hour fight is not a program.

If two adults use two scripts, the behaviour will pick the easier adult. When parents disagree.

Child behaviour programs, ABA, and “just be firmer”

Relatives will tell you the child needs a firmer hand. Some children do need a clearer adult. Many of the children who arrive here already have a very firm hand, and the behaviour is still doing a job the child cannot do another way — ask, escape, get a break, get the room to make sense.

ABA, done decently, is not hours of compliance. It is: what is the behaviour for, teach a replacement, practise it where it fails, fade. Positive behaviour support is the same idea with the child’s quality of life named out loud. We run both under one plan. We do not print BCBA. Training route if you are asking for yourself: how to become an ABA therapist.

Using an ABC chart without turning the house into a clinic

Three columns, three days, one behaviour. Before — what was asked, how loud the room was, how hungry, who was there. Behaviour — one sentence two adults would write the same way. After — what they got: escape, a phone, a hug, the demand dropped. Printable: ABC behaviour chart. Visuals that cut the shouting: visual schedules.

When it looks like PDA

If every ordinary demand — shoes, teeth, the door — produces a panic that looks like refusal, read pathological demand avoidance before you double the sticker chart. PDA is a contested profile. What helps is lowering the demand, offering a way through, and teaching a way to ask for a break. What fails is more consequence.

Hitting, biting, running off: safety first, then the program. When your child hits or bites, when a child runs off.

What a week of our program looks like

One target. Two or three sessions if that is what the plan needs, not a package sold in months. You watch the prompt. Home practice is the same target in the same routine, five minutes, not a second clinic at 7pm. Review date on the plan. Therapy is meant to end.

What to refuse

  • A chart with twenty behaviours.
  • Guarantees (“stopped in four weeks”).
  • Programs whose only goal is eye contact or looking typical.
  • Anything that uses fear. Unproven autism treatments.

If anyone is getting hurt, that is safety first, not a sticker. If someone is unsafe now, local emergency care — not our next slot.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a child behaviour program?

A planned way of teaching a better response to the same situation: one behaviour, the job it is doing, a replacement skill that actually works, practised in the routine that fails, with a review date. It is not a punishment timetable and not twenty fridge targets.

Is this ABA?

Here, yes — positive behaviour support under a written plan. We find the function, teach a replacement, fade the old way. We do not claim BCBA. We do not use pain or shame.

How long does a behaviour program last?

Until the replacement skill works in the house, then we fade. There is no honest fixed package. Anyone who quotes a course length before meeting your child is selling, not assessing. A consultation is Rs 1,500 and lasts up to 50 minutes.

Can I run a behaviour program at home without coming in?

You can start: one behaviour, an ABC log, one ask, pay the ask not the scream. If it is not shifting, or anyone is getting hurt, get a look. Our behaviour home program is week by week and free to read.

Do you have behaviour programs online?

Yes — parent coaching from Multan, in Urdu or English. The child does not have to sit on camera. Complementary to local services, not a branch in your city.

Should I ignore the behaviour?

Only if you are sure the job is attention and the child is safe. Escape-maintained behaviour gets worse if you drop the demand and then give it up later.
