What we can discuss with you
- The everyday communication situations you want help with
- How speech or language difficulties affect participation
- Preferred communication methods and useful adjustments
- Support needs alongside autism or intellectual disability
Starting the conversation
Tell us what has changed, whether the difficulty is longstanding and which situations matter most to you. Ask about the therapist’s experience with your particular adult communication needs. Existing hearing, speech or medical reports may help clarify the right starting point.
Understanding the scope of support
Adult communication needs are varied; a child-focused programme should not simply be reused for an adult. New or sudden speech difficulty requires medical assessment. Ask separately about medical or neurological rehabilitation and swallowing concerns, as these require specific expertise.
Read the background guidance: ASHA: speech and language disorders in adults. This source explains the topic; it does not certify IDTC or an individual clinician.
Your first contact for adult care
Muhammad Salman Afzal is IDTC’s owner, director and clinical and child psychologist. Contact him first to discuss the appropriate clinician for your adult appointment.

Arranging an adult appointment
Contact Muhammad Salman Afzal at IDTC and say you are enquiring about speech and communication support for an adult. Ask who will provide the appointment, what it involves and the fee before committing. You can meet in Multan or ask about an online appointment appropriate to your needs and location.

This page describes routine support. If someone is in immediate danger, seek local emergency medical help. Medication and psychiatric assessment require an appropriately qualified medical practitioner.
